Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)

The Hollister School District partners with the San Benito County Office of Education Special Programs Department to support our early childhood students (students not yet in school and age 5 or below) identified with exceptional needs.

The San Benito County Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) team reviews referrals as part of child-find processes and their special education professionals conduct comprehensive assessments, when warranted, for students who are suspected of having a disability recognized by the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Improvement Act (IDEA) and the California Education Code. When early childhood students qualify for special education services based on assessments, the ECSE program team may also provide specialized academic instruction (SAI) and/or related services to students as noted on the Individualized Educational Program (IEP). Hollister School District Special Education District representatives also attend IEP meetings for our students.
