School Transfers

The Governing Board wants to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of district students and parents/guardians while balancing enrollment to maximize the efficient use of district facilities. This change will allow our district to effectively staff schools and create balanced classroom sizes.

2026/2027 Intradistrict transfer request forms will be available October 1, 2026. The window for the 2026-2027 school year will close February 1, 2027.

The District may revoke a transfer and send the student back to their school of residence or to a different school within the district if the student has poor attendance, grades, or behavior.

Transfers
  • Resident School - this is the school boundaries which the student resides in on a permanent basis.
  • Intradistrict Transfer - for students living within the Hollister School District who wish to apply for transfer to another school, other than their resident school.
  • Interdistrict Transfer - 1) for students living within the Hollister School District who wish to attend a school outside the District. 2) students living outside the Hollister School District who wish to attend a school within the District. Interdistrict transfers must be submitted each school year.

Starting Spring 2027, Requests for the 2027-2028 school year must be submitted to the district between March 1st and April 30th for all schools, excluding Accelerated Achievement Academy (AAA) and Hollister Dual Language Academy (HDLA). Accelerated Achievement Academy (AAA) and Hollister Dual Language Academy (HDLA) are considered schools of choice. The district will review the request and notify the family of the status of the Intradistrict Request on or before May 30th. All intradistrict transfer requests will be determined on a space-available basis. If approved, the transfer will take effect the following school year.
